The
US often celebrates a national holiday on Monday to make a three day holiday weekend. For example, besides Martin Luther King Day (
Third Monday in January), the US celebrates President’s Day (Washington’s birthday, Third Monday in February), Memorial Day (Last Monday of May), Labor Day (First Monday in September), Columbus Day (Second Monday in October), etc.
