Here is a pic
of Tim, left, and Dave, two of the crew members sitting next to
the wooden rudder
and tiller (far left), which were made of wood, of the Pinta. Dave says, “I just
retired. Right after retiring, I got this job in a timely manner.” He lives in
Indiana. Tim’s been working for a longer time than Dave. He lives in Illinois.
They tell us that their job is fun and they can learn lots of stuff. They also
say, “Why don’t you apply for this job?” Cool!!! --- We could see Captain
Christopher Columbus on the Niña! J
--- We asked Tim, “When will the sails be up?” Tim replied, “No, they won’t
because this river is too narrow if the sails are up and catching the wind.
Maybe on Lake Pepin.” If we’re not mistaken, we heard from Tim and Dave that the
Niña and Pinta are made from Brazilian hardwood. This pic was shot on the Pinta
in Hudson, Wisconsin on 100806.
“Hi, Tim and Dave, thanks for sharing you guys’ knowledge and experiences with
us. Please contact us when you get a chance. Thx. Joe”
