102 Winter Solstice (First Day of Winter, December 22, 2003) USA vs. Japan

Vernal equinox, Summer solstice, Autumnal equinox, and Winter solstice

The Japanese observe Vernal equinox and Autumnal equinox as its national holidays, while they may notice Summer solstice and Winter solstice only on the calendar.

In the US, people may notice Vernal equinox, Summer solstice, Autumnal equinox, and Winter solstice only on the calendar.  The fact is, we don't get a day off for any of the above days.
