Memorial Day II:  Memorial Day vs. Veterans Day

The US observes Memorial Day on the last Monday in May -  This year is May 26, 2003
.  We described Memorial Day last year,  but we didn’t post Veterans Day on November 11. Here is the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day:

Memorial Day honors soldiers who died in the course of duty.  Veterans Day honors anyone who served in the military, whether living or dead.

Many people view Memorial Day as the first day of summer, although this is not official.  Likewise, Labor Day is the unofficial end of summer.
