The infamous and deadly James-Younger Gang failed to rob the First
National Bank of Northfield, Minnesota, when armed people in Northfield opened
fire on the outlaws on September 7, 1876.
The
James brothers (Frank and Jesse), the Younger brothers (Cole,
Jim, and Bob), and Charlie Pitts barely escaped, but two gang members, Clell
Miller and Bill Chadwell (alias William Stiles), and two brave townpeople in
Northfield were killed. After this, a massive manhunt ensued. As a result,
almost all of the
James-Younger gang was
killed or captured.
Only Frank and Jesse James

Several years later after the unsuccessful attempt to rob the bank in
Northfield, Jesse James was betrayed and murdered by Bob Ford, one of his gang. The Movie, “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert
