More info on bats, attend this annual event, “Bats: A Halloween Special!” by
Stephanie Reynolds (a.k.a. “The Bat lady”) on Oct. 29, 2006*. Check Fort

In her class we learned the following cool facts: Most people don’t like bats+.
Ms. Reynolds, however, is saying, “Bats, flying mammals are really useful to
humans. For example, Bats feed on insects like mosquitoes; one little brown bat
can consume 600 mosquitoes per hour. Bats also play an important role in
pollinating several species of important plants such as bananas and mangoes**."
Ms. Reynolds kindly gave us the following information for our readers before her
talk:
”If you come again, or send friends, tell them to check out the Department of
Natural Resources Minnesota State Parks information <

> --- I often do programs there in summer and in October. Also, in summer, I do
programs at the libraries in Saint Paul.
Have you heard of Sue Barnard***, in Morrow, Georgia? She also shares bats with
people, and has some large fruit bats. She even sent some of her small vampire
bats to a good person who wanted to adopt them - she was from Japan. She is a
Zoo Keeper.”

exclusively feed on blood. <
