Winter Sports: Snowshoeing 060318

Minnesotans take advantage of the recent snow fall. Some ski, snowboard, snowshoe, cross country ski, sled, etc. Tina and Leroy (from Maplewood) came to Battle Creek Park to enjoy snowshoeing on the sunny Saturday afternoon. They use modern snowshoes. “I often see old fashioned snowshoes, which Native Americans invented a long time ago, in snowshoeing classes. Are the modern snowshoes better than the old fashioned ones?” Tina goes, “I’ve never used the old fashioned ones, so I don’t know the answer.” Leroy goes, “Modern snowshoes are made of metal and lighter”. They kindly pose for my camera (showing the back of the snowshoes). Tina says, “You don’t need sticks, but the sticks help us to climb uphill.”
