A Living dramatization of Leonardo da Vinci’s ”The Last
Supper,” by Ernest K. Emurian, was presented by Riverview Baptist Church Drama
Team on April 13 (Maundy Thurs.) & 14 (Good Friday), 2006. The team includes
Jesus and the 12 Apostles. One of the 12 Apostles was performed by Rev. David Wick. It was really
awesome. This photo was shot on April 14, 2006 at the Riverview Baptist Church+ <

Before the play, I, a Japanese, can’t deny the fact that I wondered what the
heck ”Is it I?” was. Once the play began, I got the meaning of ”Is it I?” Well,
you readers are smarter than me, so you don’t need any explanation for ”Is it
I?” But, just in case, (for those who are the same as me) here is the answer.
--- Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, one of you will betray Me, one who is
eating with me.” They began to be sorrowful, and to say to Him one after
another, “Is it I?” --- from the program of “Lord, Is It I? *” by Riverview
Baptist Church+.
During Lent, especially on Maundy Thursday (or Holy Thursday) and Good Friday,
there
are many events at churches. With the help of the St.
Paul Pioneer Press** and the Star Tribune***, this year we had a chance to see
two awesome re-enactment events in person. One was “The Living Last Supper” at
Riverview Baptist Church+, and the other one was “Living Stations of
the Cross”, which was performed by youth, at Saint Jude of the Lake++. Last year, we eye witnessed Fathers wash
people’s feet (like Jesus did after the Last Supper#
) on Maundy Thursday at the Cathedral of Saint
Paul+++, and we also attended the candlelight vigil ceremony on Holy
Saturday there.
The
reason why quite a few re-enactment events are held in churches during Lent
(especially Maundy Thursday and Good Friday) is that Easter is one of the two
most important holidays for Christians (The other one is Christmas): Jesus
Christ's Birth (Christmas), his Crucifixion and Resurrection (Easter).
