123 Mother’s Day 2 (040509)

See Letter 55 for Mother’s Day 1.

Mother’s Day is a day where all mothers are honored.  Special events are held and oftentimes people do things as a family.  The kids and father get the mothers presents or take them out to dinner or other places.  Oftentimes churches recognize Mother’s Day and will have all the mothers stand up in mass and give them a special blessing.

At my high school we had a special Mother’s Day mass and breakfast a couple Sundays before the actual Mother’s Day.  First we went to a mass at the school (Catholic) for the mothers and then had breakfast catered from a nice restaurant.  My mother and my grandma were there.  Some flowers were given to the mothers at the breakfast. There were only about 10-20% of the students there so it wasn’t required.  My school also had a mother-son dance, but that wasn’t for Mother’s Day (they have it every year and it is around Christmas time).
