I alone went to see the St. Paul St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Downtown St. Paul during lunch time since I couldn’t find any of my friends who were interested.   But I happened to see my friend and his daughter in the crowd; they claim they are American Irish.

Marchers wear green stuff and many of the spectators put on green stuff.  We also put some green on ourselves to mingle with the crowd.
J  This year’s Parade Grande Marshal was Mike Tice, the Minnesota Vikings Head Coach, we saw him in person for the first time.  Ummm… We (The Vikings’ fans) would like to see him in a convertible in a Super Bowl Champions parade soon.

My friend says that names beginning with O’ or Mc are often an Irish last name while Mac is often a Scottish last name.   Again in this year’s parade many clans led by their banners marched in the parade.  The last clan in the parade was “O’ Anybodies”, which was funny, but makes sense; people like the clan category.   In addition to marches of clans, we spotted a Leprechaun, Irish Presley, St. Patrick, and Vulcans.  We also found a woman in green just walking on the side street; from the top, green hair, green skirt, green stockings, and green shoes.

After the parade, we tried to eat at an Irish Pub & restaurant called “McGoverns Patrick Pub & Restaurant” , but it was packed with people and we had to give up the idea.  L  So we ended up eating at an Italian restaurant  while visiting with each other.

Nobody gets St. Patrick’s Day off, but some people take a vacation from work.

On St. Patrick’s Day, greeting cards, green carnations, green tulips, cookies in the shape of a shamrock leaf with green sugar or green frosting, special cakes, etc. are for sale.
