Many
Martin Luther King events were held on Mon., January 19, 2004 across the country, and many of the schools were off as well.  We, living in St. Paul, checked the Youth rally held at St. Paul Central High School, St. Paul, and then joined the March from the high school to Concordia University, St. Paul.  The distance for marching was around 1 km or so.  The banner saying “Deferring the action Defers the dream“ led the march and a leader led the marchers in singing.  Some of the marchers carried flags and signs.  There were around 2000 participants.  The weather was frigid while we were marching; the temperature was around -15 C.  Brrrr!

According to the January 19th St. Paul Pioneer Press, Official state celebration: Guest speaker Brandon Neil, NAACP (The National Association of the Advancement of Colored People) <
