(3) A hard fought point in tennis, involving many shots: Andy finally won the game after several long rallies.

Rally (verb)

(1) To support:  The company always rallies behind non-profit organizations.

(2) To come from behind.  Example:  “Stocks rallied for the third day in a row.” “The Minnesota Twins rallied in the ninth inning to win last night’s game.”
