74 Rally on the River* (The Mississippi)
A Harley Davidson motorcycle parade was planned to occur in St. Paul on June 28,
2003, Saturday 6 p.m. Unfortunately, the parade had to be canceled because of
the bad weather. Well, it rained hard just from 5 to 5:50 p.m. The cancellation
announcement was made at 5:30 p.m. "It sucked!" At 6 p.m. the rain stopped and
even the sun started shining. People, including us, were disappointed by the
cancellation. It's great fun to watch this special parade which would have
1,500 Harley Davidson motorcycles. Around 6 p.m., there were at least some more
motorcycles than usual passing Wabasha Street and Kellogg Boulevard. Quite a few
people, classic cars, and some food stands were along Kellogg Boulevard. A rally
had been on Harriet Island from Fri. through Sun. See pix

Here in Minnesota (and many other areas of the US too), some people love Harley
Davidson motorcycles, while other people like the Japanese motorcycles such as
Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki and British made motorcycles. It amazes me that
people love to ride motorcycles in Minnesota, where the season to ride a
motorcycle is so short because of the long winter.
Itís much, much easier to get a driverís license, for any size motorcycle, in
the US than in Japan. Once you pass a written exam (computer), you can get a
student driverís license. Then you can take your motorcycle to an exam place and
take a performance test to get a driverís license.
Oh, are you (some Japanese) asking me, "Do only greasy leather jacket big guys
love motorcycles?" "No, itís stereotype thinking. Almost anyone, including some
women, can love to drive motorcycles in the US."
