"Frozen Four" --- The “Final Four” of the NCAA* Men’s Ice Hockey Tournament

American College Hockey is also popular in the
US .  NCAA hockey started last Fall and finished the league games in each conference a few weeks ago. Sixteen teams were selected as the teams to compete in the 2003 NCAA Tournament. These teams were selected based upon the results of the league games.  The NCAA Tournament is in progress and now the “Frozen Four” section is about to begin. After the intense games, only four teams are now left for the semifinals and then the final. “Frozen Four” will be held at HSBC Arena, Buffalo , N.Y. , April 10 and April 12. 

Re: a local team:  The Golden Gophers, the men’s hockey team of U of Minnesota, were the champions last year and this year made the Tournament to the Frozen Four.  We are hoping that they will be the champions again for two years in a row.

Re: The NCAA* Women’s Ice Hockey Tournament:  The "Frozen Four" was over on March 21 and 23, 2003.**   Note: Although women’s college hockey is not as popular as men’s, it continues to gain popularity.
