Snowshoeing (022503)

Snowshoes are a great device that are used to walk on snow without sinking into the deep snow.  As for snowshoes' history, some say that snowshoeing was developed by Central Asians while others say that it was created by Native Americans.  We thought snowshoes are made of wood, but we (maybe our info. is obsolete! J) found that there are plastic snowshoes as well as wooden ones.   Some people use ski poles while snowshoeing (< http://www.kes.bham.sch.uk/outdoors/abroad/snowshoe/shoes.html >) .   See two pix: Pic 1: snowshoes made of wood (front) and made of plastic (back) and Pic 2: People are snowshoeing on the lake.
