Photo 1  Red-bellied Woodpecker    Here is a picture of a red-bellied woodpecker stick his head out of the home he (Dad) and his partner (Mom) made in the tree. This is a male red-bellied woodpecker because of the red covering his entire head. There are nestlings in the nest that are being fed by the parents. This pic was shot in Minneapolis, MN, on 060618. 赤はらキツツキの父親と巣

FYI: How they produce? The male and female select and build a nest together.  The female lays about 4 eggs; one egg per day. Both parents incubate the eggs and then feed the chicks once they hatch.  More Info: < >

Note: "Tammy, As you can see in the photo, I did spot a Dad woodpecker at home this past Sun. Thanks for your tips. He is really COOL!"  FYI: On Saturdays (From April through October), Eloise Butler Wildflower & Bird Sanctuary gives two naturalist guided birding tours; for more info check < > Naturalist Tammy leads Birding II while Naturalist Christine, Birding I.  The birding tours are awesome!  ---  Joe, a novice birder.      Tips for English: bird-watching = birding, bird-watcher = birder
