These graceful and majestic birds are tundra swans.
They are regular migrants through this area around this time of the year
(mid-October to late November). The number of the tundra
swans heavily depends upon weather conditions; usually about 2,000 tundra swans can be
spotted in Alma when tundra swans reach a peak population. We spotted 200
tundra swans at Rieck's lake in Alma, and we heard many tundra swans stopped in La
Crosse, WI for 2004. The pic was shot at
