A male American Wigeon, a beautiful dabbling duck, has a green crescent-shaped patch on each side of its head as you can see in this pic. Migratory birds like American Wigeons use the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul) area as a staging site during their migration. "Welcome and glad to see ya guys (several pairs of American wigeons) back! Mr. Wigeon, Thanks so much for posing for our camera. Ya look really cool!" Mr. Wigeon and we made eye contact with each other. This pic was shot in Maplewood, MN on 091115.
