Snow buntings migrate to wintering grounds in the northern Unites states (including Minnesota) and western Europe. On the other hand, they breed on the high arctic tundra such as Alaska, northern Canada, Greenland, Iceland, and northern Europe. As you can see, they blend into their surroundings very well. The pic was shot on Lake Phalen, St. Paul, MN, 061021. Sharon* gave us her comment on the photo when we e-mailed this pic to her: “I love this photo, they are sitting in a really cute angle. Sometimes you will find snow bunting in huge flocks. When they are in a large flock you can't get close to them at all, but if it's just one or two you can sometimes get very close. “
