For more info on Eastern Skunk Cabbage (ザゼンソウ), click here (ザゼンソウ: チェック日本語).　この花は、発熱し、近くの雪を融かし、開花します。確か、花も葉っぱも悪臭をだすので、スカンクキャベツと呼ばれると思います。悪臭を放つ理由は、花に昆虫を引き寄せるためです。Skunk Cabbageは、ミズバショウと思っていました。Eastern Skunk Cabbageは、ザゼンソウのようです。Western Skunk Cabbageは、ミズバショウに似ていますね。
