Here is a
picture of Ron banding a male
Rose-Breasted Grosbeak, taken on 070512. The males have very bright red colors (see
the next photo) to attract the
females to them, while the females are plain colors so they don't stand out to
predators. The babies are also dull in color so they can blend in easier with
their surroundings. You can see the banding material on the desk in front of
him.
