"Can you see a killdeer's nest in
the mulch?" Killdeer plovers nest in shallow depressions in mulch or
gravel.
There are four splotchy eggs inside
the nest. To my big surprise,
we couldn’t spot the nest even when Matt, a naturalist, told us “There is a nest
around here.” Indeed, the nest blends in very well with its surroundings,
doesn’t it?
