Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Dedication
The
dedication of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial was
originally scheduled for August 28, 2011, the 48th
anniversary of the "I Have a Dream" speech, but was postponed
due to Hurricane Irene. The MLK Memorial opened
to the public on August 22, 2011.

The Memorial will be dedicated on
Sunday,
August 28, 2011.
The dedication coincides
with the 48th anniversary of the March on Washington and King’s “I
Have a Dream” speech, delivered at the Lincoln Memorial*.
The
figure of Dr. King was sculpted by renowned artist Master Lei Yixin:
