2009 White Bear Lake: For the first time, the
Minnesota Governor's Fishing Opener will be held in the metro area.
The 2009 Minnesota fishing season officially opened at 12:01 a.m. on
Saturday, May 9, 2009.
We heard that some people began to fish at 12:01 a.m. We were surprised that
Governor Tim Pawlenty and First Lady Mary Pawlenty went fishing at 3:30 a.m.
The Governor "Ummm...
We got there around 7:00 a.m. and missed the Send Off Ceremony starting at 6:45
a.m. at Tally's Dockside, accordingly. Well, it was Saturday. In addition, we
aren't anglers!"
