More than 500 people
plunged into the icy waters of Lake Minnetonka Monday to ring in the New Year in
the 17th annual Polar Bear Plunge.
And about 300 spectators watched the event. The temperature was around -15 C.
We may be wrong, but we heard the windchill was -15 F ( -26 C). It’s a fundraising event benefiting the
American Lung

日本の元旦寒中水泳の類でしょうか？ 厚い氷に覆われた湖に小さな長方形の穴をあけ、すなわち、プールを作り、そこに足から飛び込むイベント。気温が、低いだけに、飛び込んだ後、水から出た時、たいへん寒そうです。私たちが、昨年、見たイベントでは、着替えテントの近くにお風呂があり、そこで、参加者は、暖まっていました。また、参加者は、さまざまな服装が、許されていましたので、ファッションショーのようでもあります。今日は、およそ摂氏零下１５度でした。聞き間違えでなければ、風の効果を考慮した体が、実際に感じる温度は、摂氏零下２６度。'Polar
